Laura Robson is through to the last 16 of the 2013 Wimbledon Championships after a gutsy win over Marina Erakovic of New Zealand.

The 19-year-old faltered in the opening set on court two, and appeared to be heading out of the competition before turning it around in the second, and going on to win the third (1-6, 7-5, 6-3).

Robson will now face either Alison Riske or Kaia Kanepi on Monday for a place in the quarter-finals.

She said: “I was getting my butt kicked in the first set. I was struggling to return her serve, and she was playing really well.

“I just thought that I am going to play the best I can, work as hard as I can and stick with it until she starts to get nervous, which is what happened.”

She added: “The crowd were amazing, I am so happy to be through but I could not have done it without them.

“I am excited to be in the fourth round, it’s only the second time I have reached this stage in a grand slam. I am looking forward to doubles tonight, resting tomorrow and then playing on Monday.”

Robson is due to partner Lisa Raymond against Anna-Lena Groenfeld and Kveta Peschke, seeded seventh, in the ladies doubles second round this evening.
