London Broncos could hand a Super League debut to 20-year-old Mike Bishay in their game against Catalan Dragons this weekend.

Bishay, a half-back who joined the club’s academy from West London Sharks, has been training with the first team.

He is dual-registered with Hemel Stags and has been earning rave reviews at the Kingstone Press Championship One side.

He also played for London Skolars earlier in the season and last weekend in their Northern Rail Cup game against Whitehaven.

The Broncos face Catalan Dragons in the opening game of the weekend on Saturday, which kicks off at midday, and Bishay is looking forward to the experience should he get the nod from head coach Tony Rea.

“It will be brilliant if I make my debut, it’ll be such a good experience,” he said.

“It’s exciting, I’ve just got to keep training hard and playing well for Hemel and hope that I get a shot.

“I’ve been training for the last year and a half full-time but it’s been worth the wait, I’ve just got to wait for my chance to come and hopefully take it with both hands.”

Bishay has been under the expert tutelage of the experienced half-back Craig Gower, someone that he was keen to praise in his development.

"Working with players like Gowie [Craig Gower] you just see the attitude on the pitch, on the training field and how hard he works in the gym. He’s helped me and mentors me really well.”
