Part of a flat in Morden has been destroyed by a fire at around 1.40pm today (January 16).

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the flat fire above a cafe on London Road in Morden.

A small part of the first floor flat was destroyed by fire and a woman suffering from smoke inhalation was treated at the scene by fire crews.

London Fire Brigade was called at 1.39pm and the fire was under control by 2.40pm.

Fire services do not know the cause of the fire at this stage.

 

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a flat fire above a cafe on London Road in Morden.

“A small part of the first floor flat was destroyed by fire.  

“One woman suffering from smoke inhalation was treated on the scene by fire crews.

“The Brigade was called at 1339 and the fire was under control by 1440. Fire crews from Wimbledon, Sutton, Tooting and Sutton fire stations were in attendance.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
