A PEDESTRIAN has been rushed to hospital after a crash with a car in Merton.  

The incident happened in Worple Road just after 4.30pm yesterday (August 1).  

Police, ambulance crews, and London’s Air Ambulance were called to the scene. 

An ambulance crew, medics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and a team leader attended.   

The pedestrian, who was a woman in her 40s, was treated at the scene.  

She was rushed to a west London hospital.

Her condition was assessed as not life-threatening. 

The driver of the car stopped at the scene.  

The road was closed until 12.30am as the incident was dealt with.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said “Police were called at 16:40hrs on Monday, 1 August to reports of a collision at Worple Road, Merton, SW20. 

“Officers, London’s Air Ambulance [HEMS] and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended. 

“At the scene a car had been in collision with a female pedestrian, aged 40s.

“The injured woman was taken to a west London hospital where her condition was not life threatening. 

“There were no other reported injuries. 

“The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. She was not arrested. 

“The road was closed and safety cordons implemented while emergency services accessed the scene. 

“The scene was closed at 00:30hrs. 

“Anyone who witnessed this incident but has not yet come forward should call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 5019/1AUG22.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: 

“We were called at 4.31pm yesterday (1 August) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Worple Road, Wimbledon. 

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, medics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and a team leader. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. 

“We treated a patient at the scene and took them, as a priority, to a major trauma centre.”
