A woman in her 50s has been killed in a collision with a car in Richmond.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses of the fatal crash to come forward.

Reports of a heavy emergency services presence in the area emerged on Tuesday afternoon with road users advised to avoid the space around "Richmond Circus to Twickenham Bridge" into Tuesday evening.

It was later confirmed that a woman in her 50s had been seriously injured after a crash on Twickenham Road.

Met Police said they were called at 4:30pm on March 30 to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A316 Twickenham Road near the junction with Richmond Rugby Club.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was taken to a central London hospital where she was pronounced dead on Wednesday, 31 March. Her next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
