A minute’s silence will be held for runner Ian Threadgold who collapsed and died on Wimbledon Common on Sunday.
Mr Threadgold, a member of the Wimbledon Windmilers club, was taking part in a race on the common on Sunday when he collapsed.
The club said a number of members of the public and paramedics tried to help but were unable to resuscitate him.
Mr Threadgold, who had been the director of Eastpoint Financial Ltd for almost three years, was a qualified chartered accountant with 30 years of experience.
He lived in Cromwell Road, Wimbledon, with wife Caroline Threadgold and is believed to have two grown-up children.
A statement on the running club’s website posted by Jeff Hoadley said: “It is with great sadness that the club have to announce that a Windmiler collapsed and died during Sunday’s club race.
“A number of Windmilers, passers-by and various paramedics did all they could but were not able to resuscitate him. “The Windmiler who sadly passed away was Ian Threadgold and all our thoughts are with his wife Caroline and the family at this very sad time.”
The club will hold a minute’s silence in Mr Threadgold’s memory on Sunday before the run that starts at 10am.
